Moveable Feast - Your Support Needed More Than Ever!
For the last three years I have participated in the Ride For The Feast. A 2 day, 140 mile fundraising event for Moveable Feast. This non-profit organization has provide food to HIV/AIDS patients in Maryland. Now, due to some budget cuts, 175 clients may have to be turned away by Moveable Feast.
$165,000 of Moveable Feast's annual Ryan White Funding is to be cut by tomorrow, March 1, 2007. Due to new definitions regarding who can receive Ryan White funds, healthy, dependent family members of patients can no longer receive services. On the surface this may sound like a good idea but several clients are in extremely difficult situations.
Under this new definition, if a single mother is a client and has two healthy children at home, she will be the only one allowed to receive food. The meals for her children will be discontinued. Who is most likely to be eating the food that is being delivered?
This is why your help is needed more than ever. While Moveable Feast is trying to find additional funding to fill this gap it will be a very tight budget for a while.
Please consider sponsoring my Ride For The Feast and helping me raise money for Moveable Feast. Your support could help continue meals for the 175 clients that may no longer eligible for services.

Baltimore Goes Smoke Free!
We will on January 1, 2008. A smoking ban was approved last night by the Baltimore City Council. The ban received some great last minute support by Mayor Sheila Dixon who called a few city council members before the vote pushing for the ban. Mayor Dixon said she will sign the smoking ban when it reaches her desk.
This ban brings almost half of Marlanders under some smoking policy so attention is now turning to the General Assembly in Annapolis to pass a state ban.
This will ban smoking in almost all public places, which includes bars, restaurants and cabs. Exemptions can be made through the Health Department but city officials have several months to set the criteria.

El Chalan
We ate a lot of Peruvian Food while my family was here. There was Peruvian style rotisserie chicken in Baltimore called Chicken Rico, a Peruvian-Chinese restaurant in Virginia called Kam Po and a typical Peruvian restaurant in DC called El Chalan.
This pic was after a nice meal in Ell Chalan. Anticuchos! Yum!

Best calamari in town
John Steven LTD has, in my humble opinion, some of the best calamari around. In historic Fells Point and just off the water, it's a great location and good food!
Around the Inner Harbor
My mom had to wait for a package for my sister today so Derek and I took our neice and nephew to the Inner Harbor to take in some sites and to enjoy a ride on a Water Taxi to historic Fell's Point.
